2027 Sh*ckwave: Rotimi Amaechi Rejects ADC Vice Presidential Offer
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed reports suggesting he could accept a vice presidential role ahead of the 2027 election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Amaechi addressed the ongoing contest for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former Rivers State governor made it clear that he purchased the ADC presidential nomination form to contest for the presidency and not to later emerge as a running mate.
He also explained that if the party decides to adopt a consensus arrangement, aspirants should meet and reach an agreement. However, he insisted that if no agreement is reached, all contenders should proceed to the primaries.
According to him, “Please stop that. I didn’t buy the ADC presidential ticket to become Vice President.”
Amaechi also spoke on the issue of power rotation in Nigeria, arguing that the southern region should be allowed to complete its turn in the country’s leadership structure.
He noted that political power in Nigeria has historically rotated between regions and said the arrangement should continue in the interest of fairness.
Referencing recent administrations, Amaechi pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari served for eight years, while President Bola Tinubu is currently in office, adding that the South has not yet completed its turn.
Although he stated that he is not a strong supporter of zoning, Amaechi maintained that rotational leadership should still be considered within Nigeria’s political system and urged other political actors to support the idea.
