In Kaduna South, Katung clinched the party ticket after defeating former Senator Danjuma Tella Laah and Michael Ayuba Auta.
The Returning Officer, John Laah, announced the result in Jema’a Local Government Area on Monday, stating that the exercise was peaceful and credible.
Katung polled 7,453 votes, while Laah scored 1,370 votes and Auta secured 878 votes. Delegates from Kagarko, Sanga, Kauru, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Jema’a, Jaba, and Kachia participated in the exercise.
In Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani secured victory with 9,105 votes, defeating Yusuf Zailani, who scored 1,021 votes. Yerima Shettima, despite withdrawing from the race, still garnered 1,253 votes.
Sani, in his reaction, thanked President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their support, while calling for unity among party members ahead of the general elections.
In Kaduna North, former Governor Ramalan Yero won the APC ticket with 6,060 votes, defeating Muazu Mukaddas, who scored 1,044 votes, and Bala Ikara, who polled 362 votes.
However, the primaries were not without controversy, as some aggrieved aspirants led by Danjuma Laah protested the outcome, alleging irregularities and imposition of consensus candidates.
