2027 Showdown: Be Battle-Ready To Face Tinubu And Wike – Momodu Warns
Veteran journalist and publisher, Chief Dele Momodu, has cautioned that unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election will be anything but easy for the proposed opposition coalition.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a recent interview with New Telegraph, Momodu also challenged the stance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors, who claimed they are not interested in forming any coalition ahead of the polls.
He argued that the governors’ remarks are more about wording than substance, asserting that the PDP cannot afford to go solo and must join forces with other opposition parties to pose a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu warned that facing President Tinubu—backed by a political force like Nyesom Wike—requires a fully armed and united front.
He likened the 2027 presidential election to a World Cup final, where only the strongest and most strategic contenders can succeed.
“Governors are undoubtedly influential within any party, but in the PDP’s case, the internal dynamics have been deeply disappointing, particularly for those of us who are not career politicians,” he said.
“We joined PDP as a credible alternative to the APC. So when PDP governors say they won’t join a coalition, or others should come join them, I believe it’s all semantics. The truth is, no single opposition party—be it PDP, Labour Party, APGA, or others—can go head-to-head with a well-entrenched APC and a determined Tinubu alone.”
“Tinubu wasn’t easy to beat before, and now that he’s president—with Wike in his corner—it’s a whole different game. Anyone going into 2027 must be battle-ready. You need to come with every political weapon at your disposal. It’s going to be like the World Cup—you bring your best squad or you go home,” Momodu stated.
