Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has hinted that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former President Goodluck Jonathan could be in the race for the 2027 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Moro revealed that there are ongoing talks to persuade Obi to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and possibly contest under its platform, while similar efforts are being made to bring Jonathan back into the fold.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, the PDP chieftain confirmed that discussions are actively taking place with both men.
“In the build-up to 2027, I’m aware that certain individuals have been talking to Peter Obi, saying, ‘Come back home, this is what we are planning, and if you return, you stand a strong chance of emerging as the candidate,’” Moro disclosed.
When asked about Jonathan, he added: “Some persons are engaging the former president to come and run. It’s a possibility.”
Meanwhile, African Democratic Congress (ADC) spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, has criticized both the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for announcing the zoning of their 2027 presidential tickets two years before the polls.
According to him, the move sends a wrong message to Nigerians—that the political class prioritizes power struggles over the welfare of citizens. Speaking on Tuesday, Abdullahi argued that the early zoning decisions suggest the two dominant parties may either be setting the stage for a predetermined outcome or positioning themselves to entice certain individuals who fit their agenda.
