Spokesman Links Ex-Governor And Two Former Ministers To Planned Anti-EFCC Protest....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alleged that a former governor and two ex-ministers are orchestrating planned protests aimed at discrediting the agency. This assertion was made by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, during a press briefing at the Strategic Communications Inter-agency Policy Committee in Abuja on Thursday.

Earlier, the EFCC had issued a warning about anticipated protests organized by certain groups with the intent to undermine the agency’s credibility. However, in a significant development, 259 civil society organizations under the Coalition for Transparency and Economic Reform have reportedly withdrawn their participation from these protests.

According to Oyewale, these organizations opted out upon learning about the involvement of former government officials, which they believed compromised the genuine intentions of the protests.

Oyewale stated, “I received a report that about 259 civil society organisations under the Coalition for Transparency and Economic Reform publicly dissociated themselves from the so-called protests on Wednesday. If such a large number of civil society organisations disavow the protests, then their moral authority is severely undermined.”

He added, “According to their intelligence, an ex-governor and two former ministers are leading these protests. This aligns with our own intelligence. Overall, these protests do not serve the nation’s best interests, and we caution youths against being recruited as pawns in a cause they may not fully understand.”

Oyewale emphasized that the EFCC continues to receive robust support from various stakeholders, including the media, in its anti-corruption efforts. He attributed the attacks on the EFCC to its effective crackdown on corruption across the country, noting that those opposed to the commission’s activities are likely individuals directly affected by its operations.

He concluded by urging parents and guardians to counsel their children against participating in protests centered on issues they may not comprehend fully.
