In reaction, the EFCC released a statement challenging Mompha to substantiate his allegations with evidence. They emphasized that Mompha’s accusations lack merit, especially coming from someone facing serious criminal charges. The EFCC expressed concern over Mompha’s attempt to discredit the agency through baseless claims in the media.

“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been drawn to the malicious and unsubstantiated statements made by Ismaila Mustapha, aka Mompha, alleging corruption by our operatives,” the statement read.

“The EFCC is alarmed by Mompha’s attempt to launch a media campaign against it, especially considering his ongoing trial for money laundering and related offenses. We take integrity seriously and will not tolerate attempts to tarnish our reputation.”

Furthermore, the EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, directed Mompha to provide concrete evidence to support his accusations. They reiterated their commitment to pursuing Mompha’s case diligently and urged the public to disregard his claims.
