These drugs were en route to the United States, United Kingdom, and Cyprus when NDLEA operatives made the seizures.
In a statement on Sunday, spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that officers discovered 250 grams of cocaine hidden in custom-made shoe soles destined for Cyprus, along with over five kilograms of opioids headed for the US and UK.
Babafemi stated, “The NDLEA intercepted various quantities of cocaine and opioids concealed in shoes, clothing, and other items being shipped to these countries.”
He added that operatives also intercepted a shipment of 440 grams of synthetic cannabis, known as Loud, from Canada.
Additionally, the NDLEA raided a warehouse in VGC Lekki, Lagos, recovering 148 cartons of non-medical nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. A female suspect, Suliyat Abdul Salam, was arrested during this operation.
In Edo State, on July 10, NDLEA operatives intercepted a vehicle carrying 3,000 tramadol pills hidden in custard containers. The suspect, Aminu Abdullahi, claimed he purchased the drugs in Onitsha and intended to sell them in Abuja.
Moreover, the agency destroyed over 5,429 kg of cannabis during a raid in Ohen forest, arresting four suspects in the process. They also recovered 300 kilograms from another location in Owan West LGA.
In Ogun State, operatives seized 2,865 kilograms of cannabis at Afami Ibese, with the suspected owner, Umar Ibese, currently at large.
