Balami, who served as the National Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi/Datti presidential ticket in the 2023 elections, announced his decision on Wednesday in Abuja. He cited his initial departure from the APC in 2023 due to concerns over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of President Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima. However, Balami now believes that the current administration has proven him wrong on this issue.

“The Muslim-Muslim ticket was a significant factor in my decision to join the Labour Party, but I now realize it doesn’t hold the same weight as I initially thought,” Balami explained. He praised President Tinubu’s administration for its efforts in engaging with the Middle Belt region, noting improved equity in appointments of credible Nigerians.
