Governor Sani clarified that his administration disassociates itself from the individuals involved in the incident, emphasizing his commitment to upholding justice and human dignity. In a statement released by Senator Sani’s Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the video was condemned as a barbaric act incompatible with societal norms.
“The Kaduna State Government was made aware of a viral video depicting the whipping of Dan Balki Commander by unidentified persons. We unequivocally condemn this deplorable act, affirming it does not align with our principles. Our governance ethos emphasizes fairness, inclusivity, and respect for human rights,” Shehu stated.
Addressing allegations that Commander Dan Balki was targeted due to opposition to the governor, Shehu refuted these claims, asserting Governor Sani’s administration welcomes diverse political viewpoints.
“Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Uba Sani’s administration has prioritized rebuilding trust and fostering an environment where all citizens feel valued. We promote an atmosphere conducive to varying political perspectives,” Shehu remarked.
Highlighting Governor Sani’s unwavering commitment to civil liberties and due process, Shehu affirmed that thorough investigations would be conducted to ensure accountability.
“Governor Uba Sani has ordered a comprehensive probe into the incident, promising that those responsible will face legal consequences. He remains resolute in upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights,” Shehu concluded.
