Speaking through Ntufam Odu Ndep, Chairman of the Crisis Management Committee of Mbume Blocks of Clans, which includes Abia, Bendeghe Ekiem, and Etomi communities in Etung LGA, the monarch emphasized that Ofuka had not committed any offense warranting his arrest and week-long detention.

The monarch asserted that Ofuka’s predicament stemmed from political adversaries determined to undermine him at any cost. He described the detention as a politically motivated witch hunt, vehemently denying any criminal wrongdoing attributed to Ofuka or his family regarding the recent death of a government cocoa estate worker.

Addressing Governor Otu, HRM Oru-Ojong, himself a former federal lawmaker, appealed for justice, urging against the abuse of office allegedly perpetrated by certain government officials and security operatives.

Highlighting Ofuka’s diligent service under the previous administration’s directives on cocoa farm allocations, the monarch stressed the need for Governor Otu’s intervention to secure Ofuka’s immediate and unconditional release after recuperation in the hospital.

“I urge that once Ofuka has recovered, he should be released, as he cannot be directly held accountable for any perceived errors of the past administration,” HRM Oru-Ojong concluded.
