The duo, often armed with machetes, specialized in daytime robberies within their vicinity and nighttime home invasions. They were among 41 suspects presented by the police command on Friday, July 19, 2024, during the inaugural press briefing by State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi.

On July 4, at approximately 7:50 pm, the suspects fatally assaulted 35-year-old Yisa Mohammed as he traveled with his wife, Anifat, to Igbagbo Village via Iroko in Akinyele Local Government Area. According to Anifat’s report to the police around 9 pm that same day, the suspects emerged from hiding under the bridge at Iroko Village, attacking them with machetes. This resulted in Yisa’s death, while Anifat managed to escape.

Following their arrest, the suspects confessed during interrogation. They claimed the deceased owed them N5,500 in wages for labor on his farm but refused to pay, prompting their violent actions.

Earlier on the same day, the suspects allegedly killed a 60-year-old woman, Mrs. Nike Odediran, by similar means. Her son reported the incident to Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters.
