Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with the Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) tracking team, have arrested four suspected kidnappers in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The suspects were apprehended around noon on November 4, 2026, during a coordinated security operation aimed at tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the Otukpo area.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the operation involved troops of Sector 1 deployed in Otukpo, who worked alongside the OPWS tracking team to track down individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities.

During the operation, the security personnel recovered nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one empty cartridge, a knife and other miscellaneous items suspected to be linked to criminal activities.

The four suspects, alongside the recovered exhibits, are currently in military custody as investigations continue and further necessary action is being considered.

The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle kidnapping networks, disrupt criminal operations and strengthen security across Benue State.

The military has continued to conduct intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies, with the aim of tracking down criminal elements and protecting communities vulnerable to attacks and abductions.
