According to Naija News, Abdullahi’s testimony is part of the prosecution’s case against Ali Bello, the former governor’s nephew, alongside co-defendants Abba Daudu, Yakubu Adabenege, and Iyada Sadat. The defendants are facing 18 charges related to money laundering and misappropriation, totaling over ₦3 billion.

A statement from Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, revealed that Abdullahi recounted an incident where Daudu delivered $300,000 in cash to him specifically for the school fees. Abdullahi explained, “Abba Daudu called me about a transaction, even though it was the weekend. I drove to the office and waited for their arrival. Three individuals came, with one staying in the car while the other two entered my office, along with a friend of Daudu holding a black leather bag containing $300,000.”

He continued, “When they entered, Daudu introduced his friend as a business partner involved in the transaction. Although I wanted to count the cash before they left, a power outage hindered me. I locked the money in my office safe and informed them that I needed to confirm the total before proceeding. Daudu’s friend mentioned that I would receive details for the payment after confirmation and that service charges would apply.”

After completing the transfer, Abdullahi sent four receipts of $75,000 each to Daudu, who confirmed that the payments had been successfully made. When asked about specific transactions related to Exhibit D during cross-examination, he affirmed, “Yes, I know about the transactions totaling $300,000 paid in four installments for one of Yahaya Bello’s daughters.”

Additionally, Abdullahi recalled a payment made by Aleshua Solutions Services, which paid $42,170 for Naima Ohunene Bello on January 24, 2022. He identified another transaction of $44,675 for Naima Bello, clarifying, “I saw it on the payment receipt. The amount was initially $44,700, but due to internal bank charges, $25 was deducted.”

The beneficiary of these payments was the American International School.
