Tinubu’s Aide Suggests CNG Alternative For Affordable Abuja-Lagos TravelThe Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has urged Nigerians to switch to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a “cleaner, safer, and more affordable” alternative to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as fuel. In a post on X.com on Thursday, Olusegun emphasized that traveling from Abuja to Lagos using CNG would cost just ₦10,000.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
He explained that CNG not only offers cost savings but is also safer, with a lower risk of tank explosions due to heat compared to PMS. Olusegun highlighted Nigeria’s rich natural gas reserves and the rapid expansion of CNG infrastructure, with more fueling stations being established across the country.
“Traveling from Abuja to Lagos using CNG will cost ₦10,000. A PMS tank is more prone to explosion from heat than a CNG tank,” Olusegun said. “Nigeria has more natural gas than crude oil, and the CNG business is advancing quickly, with stations popping up all over the country.”
He also mentioned the growing availability of CNG financing options, such as those provided by Futurewave Energy Solutions, which offer flexible payment plans for vehicle conversions to CNG.
“CNG financing is improving daily, with companies like #futurewavecng allowing you to convert and pay back over time. As a safer, cheaper, and cleaner energy source, now is the best time to join the CNG movement,” Olusegun added.
His advocacy comes in the wake of a recent hike in fuel prices by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). According to Naija News, petrol prices at NNPC retail stations have risen from ₦897 to ₦1,030 per litre in Abuja, and from ₦868 to ₦998 per litre in Lagos. Other regions have seen similar increases, marking a 14.8% surge in the past month.
In response, the Tinubu administration has introduced a “convert now, pay later” platform to encourage Nigerians to transition their petrol-powered vehicles to CNG, providing the option to defer payment for the conversion.
