President Tinubu Announces New Appointments To NUC, NERDC, NEPAD, SMDFPresident Bola Tinubu has made several important appointments to key institutions, including the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI), and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

The appointments were announced in a statement by Bayo Ononuga, the Special Adviser to the President, on Friday.

Among the new appointees is Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor with expertise in veterinary reproduction. He has been named the Executive Secretary of the NUC. Prof. Ribadu previously served as Vice-Chancellor at the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University in Jigawa State.

In a related move, President Tinubu appointed Prof. Salisu Shehu, a distinguished academic in educational and human psychology, as the Executive Secretary of the NERDC. Prof. Shehu played a key role in the establishment of the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and has also served as Vice-Chancellor at Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.

Jabilu Tsauri, an expert in international affairs and diplomacy, has been appointed as the National Coordinator of NEPAD. Tsauri has extensive experience in legislative affairs, global governance, and public service.

Additionally, Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani has been named the Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI. Danfulani, with a background in banking, business administration, and computing, has previously worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria and served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new appointees’ wealth of experience and proven track records will bring a fresh sense of commitment and progress to their respective organisations, helping to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
