Four major drug traffickers involved in a record cocaine seizure at an Ikorodu estate in 2022 have been sentenced by a Federal High Court in Lagos. Soji Jubril Oke (71), Wasiu Akinade (55), Emmanuel Arinze Chukwu (67), and Jamaican national Kelvin Christopher Smith (44) were arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in September 2022, following a raid that uncovered 2,139.55 kg of cocaine, the largest single cocaine haul in Nigeria’s history.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The convicts faced charges under case number FHC/L/607C/2022 and were sentenced to a combined total of 28 years in prison with hard labor. Smith received a 4-year term, Chukwu was sentenced to 16 years, Oke to 5 years, and Akinade to 3 years. The court also imposed fines and ordered the forfeiture of their properties, including cash and a grey Toyota Tacoma SUV.

In an additional ruling, the court granted the final forfeiture of two properties tied to the drug network: one in Ikorodu and another in Victoria Garden City, Lagos. The properties are to be sold, with the proceeds going to the Nigerian government.
