The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has clarified that human error, rather than a system glitch, was responsible for the widespread failure of candidates from the South East and Lagos regions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Previously, in his address on May 14th, Oloyede had attributed the failure to a system glitch.
His initial explanation drew sharp criticism from senators and members of the House of Representatives from the South East, who have since called for the cancellation and rescheduling of the exam for all candidates.
During a meeting with chief external examiners, civil society groups, and tertiary institution stakeholders in Abuja on Wednesday, Oloyede emphasized that the mistake was not ethnically motivated.
While acknowledging that specific individuals were responsible for the error, he declined to disclose their identities, taking full responsibility on their behalf.
“I am not concerned with the ethnic background of those involved. To my knowledge, there was no sabotage or system failure. What happened was a human error by certain diligent workers from the service providers. They made a mistake, which we have since corrected. I accept responsibility on behalf of all involved,” he stated.
