2027 Sh*cker? Gov Diri Breaks Silence On Alleged Plans To Dump PDP For APC

Addressing stakeholders during a thank-you visit by Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency representative Rodney Ambaiowei at his residence in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, Diri dismissed the claims, asserting he remains unbothered by the trending reports.
“If there’s ever going to be a political move, it will be based on the collective interest of the Ijaw nation and Bayelsa State—not for personal reasons. And such a decision will come after wide consultations with the people who entrusted me with this mandate,” Diri said.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dan Alabrah, the governor clarified that his presence at the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road flag-off event was misconstrued. According to him, his attendance was strictly to show appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for including Bayelsa in the project—an initiative he described as vital to the economic development of the Niger Delta.
Diri further recounted how he had objected to an inaccurate map that excluded Bayelsa and Edo from the road project during the event, prompting apologies and corrections from both the contractor and Minister Umahi.
“The Works Minister, during his speech, praised my developmental mindset, which unfortunately sparked assumptions of a possible defection,” the governor explained. “But such attention should not be misread as political alignment.”
He reiterated his loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that his administration remains focused on unity and delivering progress to Bayelsans. Diri also lauded the people of Southern Ijaw for their continued support, urging political players to set aside divisiveness for the sake of the state’s prosperity.
