Nation In Peril: NEMA Confirms Massive Floods Ravaging 19 States

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that women and children have been the hardest hit by the ongoing floods ravaging 19 states across the country this year.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to data released on Friday via the agency’s dashboard, Imo, Rivers, Abia, Borno, and Kaduna States recorded the highest number of people impacted by the disaster.

NEMA reported that over 165 lives have been lost, with 82 individuals still missing, and 119,791 people affected overall.

The agency further revealed that 138 individuals sustained various injuries, 43,936 were displaced, 8,594 houses damaged, and 8,278 farmlands destroyed across 43 Local Government Areas in 19 states.

A breakdown of those affected includes 53,314 children, 36,573 women, 24,600 men, 5,304 elderly persons, and 1,863 persons living with disabilities.

The affected states are: Abia, FCT, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Rivers, and Sokoto.
