The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain reportedly died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.
A family member in Akwanga and Nasarawa-Eggon confirmed the sad news to Daily Trust on Tuesday night, noting that details of his burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
Senator Ewuga previously served as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State before his appointment as FCT Minister. He also represented Nasarawa North in the 7th Senate and held several strategic roles in government.
The late elder statesman, who once endured the trauma of a kidnapping in 2021, was widely regarded as a role model and a politician whose contributions to national development spanned from 1999 to date.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for the four children of the late Dr. Grace Adayilo, Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, who died recently.
The announcement was made by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during Adayilo’s funeral service at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, attended by top government officials, civil servants, family, and friends.
Wike described her death as a painful loss, praising Adayilo as a humble and dedicated administrator who gave her best to the FCT Administration.
“On behalf of the FCT Administration and Mr. President, I extend our deepest condolences to her family. The President has directed that her four children be offered automatic employment, given the loss of their breadwinner,” Wike said.
He lauded her contributions, especially in ensuring prompt payment of workers’ salaries and benefits, while also highlighting her role as a respected mobiliser in her community.
“She was humble, hardworking, and selfless. Her impact on the FCT Administration will not be forgotten,” he added.
Colleagues and loved ones at the service described Adayilo as a compassionate leader with a motherly touch, remembered for her commitment to the welfare of others.
Wike urged Nigerians to emulate her life of service, reminding them of life’s uncertainty.
“We must learn from her life of dedication. None of us knows tomorrow. What matters is what we leave behind,” the Minister stressed.
