The setback has already sidelined him for four matches, including the Super Eagles’ 1-1 World Cup qualifier against South Africa and Galatasaray’s clashes with Konyaspor, Eyüpspor, and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking after Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Konyaspor, head coach Okan Buruk revealed that Osimhen has resumed light training, though he is still not fully match fit.

“He participated in part of today’s session,” Buruk explained. “He still feels some pain, but if he can manage it, we are hopeful he will be available for our next game.”

The coach stressed that the club’s medical team is easing the striker back gradually, allowing him to feature in short spells during training. “He played for about 10 minutes in training. The pain persists, but we expect him to return against Alanyaspor and be ready for the Liverpool match,” Buruk added.

With Galatasaray six points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig, Buruk said momentum is crucial as they prepare for a demanding schedule. “Even though we struggled at times, going into halftime 2-0 ahead gave us confidence. Stretching the gap at the top to six points boosts our morale, especially with Alanyaspor, Liverpool, and Beşiktaş coming up.”

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray permanently in the summer after a successful loan spell, wasted no time making an impact, scoring twice in his first two starts. His return against Liverpool would be a massive boost for Buruk, who is determined to deliver a stronger European campaign after last season’s Europa League disappointment.

“With the quality in this squad, I’m confident we can do even better in the coming games,” Buruk concluded. “The key now is to keep winning, extend our lead, and ensure players like Victor recover fully for the big challenges ahead.”
