A senior party source in Abuja told Punch that Obi’s supporters and close allies have already begun making arrangements for the anticipated move. The source said these discussions may have influenced the former Anambra State governor’s decision, adding that Obi is expected to formally declare for the ADC at a rally scheduled to hold in Enugu on December 31. Enugu, described as the political hub of the South-East, was reportedly chosen to reflect Obi’s regional rather than state-based political outlook.

“We are aware that Peter Obi is planning to declare for the ADC on December 31 in Enugu. While he is yet to officially notify the party, the preparations are real,” the source said.
