From Ally To Critic: Fayose Reveals Why He Stopped Backing Tinubu
Popular businessman and social media personality, Isaac Fayose, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of selfishness and an excessive preoccupation with securing re-election ahead of the 2027 general polls.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, made the remarks during an interview with Daily Post on Saturday.
He explained that although he initially supported the Tinubu-led government, he later withdrew his backing after what he described as increasing desperation to retain power.
“I once supported this government, but I pulled back when I realized they had become selfish and desperate for a second term, showing little concern for the lives being lost,” Fayose said.
He further faulted the administration for what he termed insensitivity to the suffering of Nigerians amid rising insecurity across the country.
Reiterating his stance, Fayose accused the government of prioritizing political survival over national interest, pointing to the wave of defections by state governors and what he described as efforts to undermine the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, such actions amount to an attempt to weaken opposition parties and impose a one-party system.
“You are gradually turning Nigeria into a one-party state driven by selfish interests. When everything is done for personal gain, it shows a lack of genuine concern for the people,” he said.
Fayose stressed that a strong opposition is vital to democratic governance, warning that stifling dissent for political advantage undermines democracy.
“The strength of democracy lies in the opposition. Destroying it for personal benefit is the height of selfishness,” he added.
