Sh*cking Revelation: Ohanaeze Links Decline In Herdsmen Presence In Southeast To Buhari’s Exit
A faction of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has alleged that activities linked to Fulani herdsmen in the Southeast have significantly declined since the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Sunday by the faction’s Deputy President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and National Spokesperson, Thompson Ohia, the group described the reduction in herdsmen-related activities as remarkable and unexpected.
The group suggested that the development points to concerns about alleged state-backed actions during Buhari’s administration, which they claim were intended to destabilise the South-East.
According to the statement, for several years, the region experienced widespread violence attributed to suspected herdsmen militias, leading to the destruction of farmlands, displacement of communities, and loss of lives and livelihoods. The group further alleged that these groups operated from forest areas, launching attacks on nearby villages and causing widespread fear and destruction.
The statement claimed that a noticeable change occurred following Buhari’s death in 2025, saying there was a sharp decline in such incidents shortly afterward.
It further reiterated long-standing concerns within the Igbo community about alleged policies during Buhari’s tenure, which they described as divisive and harmful to the region.
The group also noted that the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken steps to improve relations and enhance security in the Southeast.
They highlighted improvements in infrastructure and road networks, stating that these developments have contributed to better living conditions in the region.
According to the statement, security in the Southeast has improved significantly, allowing residents to feel safer and more secure than before.
The organisation concluded by extending birthday wishes to President Tinubu, praising his efforts and expressing appreciation for his administration’s attention to the region.
