Nwaubani had returned from the United States to take part in the ongoing free medical outreach organised by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA) in Abia State before she developed a medical emergency.
In a statement personally signed and issued on Saturday, Governor Otti said the doctor was immediately rushed to a hospital, where a medical team made efforts to revive her, but she unfortunately did not survive.
The governor commended the family of the late physician for allowing the humanitarian medical outreach to continue despite the tragedy, describing it as a reflection of commitment to saving lives.
He noted that the deceased had returned to Nigeria alongside her husband, an indigene of Abia State, and their daughter, a final-year medical student in the United States, to offer free medical services to residents.
Otti described her gesture as a selfless act of compassion and professionalism, adding that she and other ANPA volunteers made significant sacrifices to serve humanity.
“I wish to express my deepest sympathy to her family, loved ones, and the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas,” the governor said, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to prioritising healthcare delivery in the state.
