The visit comes amid growing speculation about possible opposition alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, with insiders describing it as a move to deepen cooperation among opposition parties.

It also follows months of internal challenges and political pressure affecting both the PDP and the ADC.

The PDP delegation was led by Turaki and included Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside other key figures such as Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Prof. Jerry Gana, Babangida Aliyu, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Hajiya Inna Ciroma, Gen. Ishaya Bamayi, Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, and Comrade Ini Ememobong.

They were received by prominent ADC figures, including David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kashim Imam, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sen. Aminu Tambuwal, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, and Peter Obi.

Other attendees included former governors Liyel Imoke, Rauf Aregbesola, and Rotimi Amaechi, as well as Bolaji Abdullahi.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the PDP said the visit was intended to show solidarity with the ADC amid what it described as increasing pressure on opposition parties.

The statement, signed by Ini Ememobong, highlighted the need for opposition groups to remain alert to actions that could undermine democratic values and political diversity.

According to the PDP, both parties acknowledged a shared challenge, noting that similar pressures have recently affected the PDP.

In response, the ADC leadership expressed appreciation for the visit and raised concerns about what it described as growing threats to democratic institutions in Nigeria.

The party warned that weakening opposition forces could have serious consequences for democratic governance.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration aimed at protecting democratic principles and strengthening political plurality in the country.
