The agency made this known in a statement on Saturday, expressing appreciation to taxpayers for their continued compliance with tax obligations.
Signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, the statement explained that the extension was prompted by a surge in traffic on the LIRS eTax platform as many taxpayers rushed to meet the previous deadline.
According to the agency, the decision was taken to give taxpayers more time to successfully complete and submit their returns.
The statement noted that the increased activity on the platform made it necessary to extend the deadline to ensure a smoother filing process for everyone.
LIRS described the new deadline as final and urged taxpayers to take advantage of the extension to meet their statutory obligations.
It also reiterated that filing annual income tax returns is mandatory for all eligible individuals.
The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, emphasised that all returns must be submitted electronically through the official eTax platform, which remains the only approved channel for filing.
Taxpayers seeking assistance were advised to visit any LIRS office or reach out through the agency’s official communication channels.
