The update was announced on Monday via the board’s official (formerly Twitter) handle, according to Naija News.
Under the new arrangement, candidates for the first session are expected to arrive at their designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres by 7:00 a.m., instead of the previously stated 6:30 a.m. However, the examination will still run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
“Attention 2026 UTME candidates: This is to notify you of a slight adjustment to the arrival time, particularly for the first session, which is now 7:00 a.m. as against the earlier published 6:30 a.m., while the start time remains 8:30 a.m. and end time 10:30 a.m.,” the board said.
JAMB also confirmed that the UTME will continue to be conducted in four daily sessions, Monday through Friday, across accredited CBT centres nationwide.
The board explained that the adjustment was made to improve operational efficiency and ensure a smoother examination process.
It further noted that the decision was influenced by concerns from candidates and parents, particularly regarding the challenges of early morning travel, safety issues, and transportation difficulties.
JAMB clarified that candidates do not need to reprint their examination slips due to the revised schedule.
The 2026 UTME is scheduled to take place between Thursday, April 16 and Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Candidates were advised to strictly follow the updated timetable and arrive early at their centres to avoid disruptions.
