Atiku and Obi are widely seen as leading figures in the race for the ADC presidential ticket, alongside other potential aspirants such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi.

Addressing concerns about stepping aside for a former running mate, Atiku dismissed the idea that it would be difficult, describing it as part of the democratic process. He noted that candidates can emerge either through consensus or through a primary election, and that the outcome should be respected.

In a related remark, Atiku also expressed confidence in his political strength in the northern region, stating that it remains his core base. He referenced the 2023 election results, noting that he secured more victories in the North than in other regions.
