The company also rejected suggestions that Dangote sought financial support from friends and associates to fund the construction of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

In a statement issued by its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company warned content creators, media outlets, and digital platforms against spreading misinformation, including AI-generated content, involving Dangote and his business interests.

The response followed a viral post on alleging that Dangote approached several prominent Nigerian businessmen for financial backing during the refinery’s construction.

The post further claimed that Elumelu pledged $20 million but later cut off communication, while also alleging contributions from other business figures such as Mike Adenuga, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Femi Otedola.

However, the Dangote Group firmly denied these allegations, stating that neither Dangote nor the company made any such claims.

The statement emphasized that the reports were inaccurate and deliberately misleading.

“The Group categorically rejects claims that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery was financed through personal borrowing from friends. These assertions are false and misrepresent the facts,” the statement read.

It further clarified that Aliko Dangote does not fund projects through personal loans from friends, nor does he engage in such financial arrangements, adding that anyone making such claims should provide credible evidence.

The company also dismissed rumours of any fallout between Dangote and Tony Elumelu, stressing that both men share a long-standing and cordial relationship.

“The suggestion of any estrangement between Aliko Dangote and Mr Tony Elumelu is entirely false,” it added.

The Dangote Group warned that such narratives could mislead the public and damage the reputations of respected business leaders.

It urged individuals and platforms circulating unverified information to desist or provide verifiable proof to support their claims.

The company reiterated that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery was not financed through personal borrowing from associates, describing the viral reports as baseless and unreliable.
