The ruling party earned the revenue through the sale of forms to two presidential aspirants, more than 83 governorship aspirants across 28 states, as well as candidates seeking seats in the National Assembly and various state Houses of Assembly.
According to reports, the APC realised ₦200 million from the sale of presidential nomination forms purchased by President Bola Tinubu and Stanley Osifo.
The party pegged governorship nomination forms at ₦50 million, Senate forms at ₦20 million, and House of Representatives forms at ₦10 million.
The substantial revenue boost is expected to strengthen the APC’s financial standing ahead of the elections, particularly as opposition parties continue to grapple with internal divisions and coalition talks.
Meanwhile, tensions within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) intensified on Friday as the forum’s chairman and Hope Uzodimma pushed back against reported opposition within the group.
Uzodimma reportedly secured a vote of confidence from 18 out of the 31 APC governors, reinforcing his leadership position within the forum.
The development followed reports that some members of the forum had allegedly moved to remove him on Thursday, with plans to replace him with Peter Mbah.
Other reports suggested that another bloc within the forum was being coordinated by Dapo Abiodun and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
However, after a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Friday, 18 APC governors publicly reaffirmed their support for Uzodimma’s leadership.
Speaking after the meeting, Nasir Idris dismissed reports of any crisis and moved a vote of confidence in both Uzodimma and his deputy.
Similarly, Uba Sani rejected claims of division within the forum, insisting that APC governors remained united in support of the party and President Tinubu.
Governors from several states, including Ondo, Kaduna, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi, and Benue, attended the meeting, while some states were represented by deputy governors.
Uzodimma also dismissed rumours of disunity within the APC, stating that the forum was focused on preparing for the party’s upcoming primaries and ensuring electoral success in 2027.
Meanwhile, the APC has commenced the screening of governorship, Senate, and House of Representatives aspirants ahead of its primary elections.
The party scheduled House of Representatives primaries for May 15, Senate primaries for May 18, and governorship primaries for May 21, 2026.
To oversee the process, the APC constituted separate screening committees for incumbent governors seeking re-election and for other governorship aspirants.
The committee screening incumbent governors is chaired by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, with the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, serving as secretary.
The screening exercise for incumbent governors was scheduled to hold at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge in Abuja, while a separate committee headed by Ben Nwoye was tasked with screening other governorship aspirants.
