The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, has dismissed reports claiming he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦500 billion fraud case....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released through his Media Aide, Abdulrasaq Danjuma, Abdullahi clarified that he merely responded to an invitation from the anti-graft agency and was never placed under arrest.

He urged members of the public to avoid spreading speculation, misinformation, sensational narratives, or unverified reports capable of distorting facts, influencing ongoing processes, or creating unnecessary public anxiety.

According to him, honouring the EFCC’s invitation was in line with due process and his respect for constituted authorities.

Abdullahi also appealed for patience, stressing that the relevant agencies should be allowed to carry out their constitutional duties so that the truth can emerge through lawful and transparent procedures.

“It is important to state clearly that he was not arrested,” the statement noted. “He voluntarily honoured the invitation as a responsible public official who remains committed to transparency and accountability.”

The statement further called on supporters, associates, stakeholders, and the general public to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while investigations continue.

Abdullahi also emphasized that the issues currently circulating in the public space remain allegations undergoing investigation and legal scrutiny.

He maintained that, in line with the principles of justice and fairness, every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
