In an open letter posted on on Thursday, Monye admitted that his earlier resignation from the movement was driven by frustration and emotional immaturity.

He acknowledged making comments that unfairly targeted Peter Obi, despite still holding deep respect for the former Anambra State governor and his political vision.

“My Dear Obidient Family, I come before you today with deep humility and a sincere heart. Some time ago, out of frustration and immaturity, I released a resignation letter as Director of Mobilisation,” he wrote.

Monye admitted that he allowed personal emotions to influence his judgment and said the statements he made about Obi were unnecessary and inappropriate.

According to him, his actions fell below the standards expected of someone who once held a leadership role within the movement.

“I made statements that subtly and unnecessarily dragged Peter Obi, a man I still admire for his integrity, vision and sacrifice for Nigeria. That was wrong. It was childish and beneath me,” he stated.

The former mobilisation director accepted full responsibility for the remarks, stressing that no one pressured or influenced him into making the statements.

Although he later deleted the resignation letter, he admitted that removing it did not erase the disappointment and damage caused among supporters of the movement.

Monye said he understood why many Obidients felt betrayed and had lost respect for him following the incident.

He also offered a direct apology to Peter Obi, saying his comments did not reflect the values of accountability, sacrifice and constructive criticism associated with the former governor.

“To Peter Obi himself, I am sincerely sorry. I failed in that moment,” he said.

He further apologised to members of the Obidient Movement, especially young Nigerians who remained committed to the vision of a better country despite challenges.

Monye admitted that turning internal disagreements into public controversy was unfair to supporters who had remained dedicated to the movement.

He clarified that the apology was not motivated by a desire to regain any position within the movement, adding that he was content with private life.

According to him, the apology was necessary because leadership also involves accepting responsibility for mistakes.

Monye added that he hoped to gradually rebuild trust through his actions, while acknowledging that forgiveness could only come with time.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to a better Nigeria and expressing continued respect for the ideals of the Obidient Movement.
