The directive was issued on Friday during the signing of Executive Order No. 002 of 2026 at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan. The order is aimed at strengthening security measures, improving traffic regulation, and ensuring proper enforcement of vehicle registration laws.

Under the new rule, commercial motorcycle operators are prohibited from operating between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. daily.

The policy is part of wider efforts to address rising security concerns in the state, following the recent abduction of 46 schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

Governor Seyi Makinde also reassured residents that government and security agencies are actively working to secure the release of the kidnapped victims.

He said the administration remains fully committed to ensuring their safe return and that operations are ongoing around the clock.

According to him, significant efforts are ongoing behind the scenes in collaboration with relevant security agencies.

He further explained that the restriction on okada operations between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. is part of measures designed to curb criminal activity and improve public safety across the state.
