Nollywood actress Blessing Nze Obasi has spoken about the backlash she received from some Christians after she portrayed a lesbian inmate in the second season of Blood Sisters.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with Yanga FM, the actress said many critics failed to distinguish between her professional roles and her personal beliefs.

She explained that acting involves interpreting different characters and should not be confused with an actor’s real-life values or lifestyle.

Obasi noted that her role was intended to reflect real-life experiences and situations that occur within society, including prison environments.

According to her, the storyline was inspired by actual events and was not meant to promote or endorse same-sex relationships.

She added that the production aimed to present a realistic narrative based on occurrences in specific settings, while maintaining sensitivity in its portrayal.

She said, “We are telling a real story about things that truly happen. The Christians came for me and attacked. They said, ‘As a child of God, how would I take such a role?’ and I said, ‘We are telling real stories of what happens in prison. However, the production company was sensitive enough not to depict the horridness of it. They are not in support of it (lesbianism) but they are telling the story. There is so much positivity. I put my mind on that.’”
