An Instagram user identified as michelino_double_m commented on his page, asking why he did not attend the event, noting that several of his colleagues were present.

The fan wrote: “You no go Alex burial yesterday, na wa for you o. Your mates were there.”

In response, Zubby Michael fired back briefly, saying: “Thunder fire you.”

Meanwhile, Alex Ekubo was laid to rest in Arochukwu, Abia State, following his funeral ceremonies.

The late actor, who passed away in May 2026 after complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer, was honoured with a service of songs in Lagos on June 10, a wake keep in his hometown on June 17, and a final funeral service and burial on June 18, 2026.

The funeral service was held at Mary Slessor School in Arochukwu, where family members, friends, colleagues, and fans gathered to pay their final respects.

After the service, his remains were interred at the family compound, followed by a reception attended by mourners.

Alex Ekubo, who rose to fame through romantic and comedic roles in Nollywood films, built a strong legacy in the Nigerian film industry, with a career spanning nearly two decades and over 100 film appearances.
