In a viral social media video, the man, described as a suspected militia leader, said Chobo fighters had adopted what he called a “night mode operation,” claiming they would move from village to village under the cover of darkness.
He allegedly warned: “There will be mass killings, there will be mass bloodshed, there will be wailing across Bachama land.”
The speaker also introduced himself as a pastor and compared the Chobo ethnic group to Israel, suggesting that despite their size, they would prevail over their opponents.
The threat comes amid ongoing tensions between Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde, where a prolonged land and communal dispute has resulted in deaths, displacement, and destruction of property over the past year.
Although authorities have previously brokered peace agreements, violence and hostilities have continued to resurface in the area.
In the same video, the suspected militant accused Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, of supporting Bachama fighters and contributing to the unrest. The allegations were not backed by evidence and had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.
