Speaking during a recent episode of the MENtality Podcast, hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Makinwa shared her views on financial compatibility in dating and marriage.
According to her, many relationship problems stem from people pursuing partners whose lifestyles and financial expectations are significantly different from their own.
“I strongly believe people should date within their age range and financial class. It helps avoid unnecessary complications and disappointment,” she said.
Makinwa argued that some men overlook supportive partners who stood by them during difficult times in pursuit of women they cannot realistically afford to maintain.
She noted that such men often end up accusing women of being materialistic despite making those choices themselves.
The media personality also warned women about relationships with men who later become wealthy, suggesting that financial success can reveal a person’s true character.
“Heaven forbid you end up with a guy who hasn’t blown. The day he finally makes it, that’s when you may discover who he really is. Money doesn’t change people; it simply reveals their true character. Sadly, many women who sacrificed everything for their partners end up being treated badly after those men become successful,” Makinwa said.
Her remarks have since sparked conversations on social media about financial compatibility, loyalty, and changing dynamics in modern relationships.
