Osun Isolated Under Adeleke, Needs Governor With Pedigree – Barau Fires At APC Rally

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has urged voters in Osun State to support the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, arguing that the state needs a leader capable of harnessing its vast human and natural resources.

Jibrin made the appeal on Thursday, August 13, during the APC mega rally organised in support of Oyebamiji ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The Deputy Senate President said Osun was endowed with significant resources and potential but lacked the leadership required to transform them into meaningful development for its people.

Addressing supporters at the rally, Jibrin maintained that the state needed an experienced governor with the capacity to effectively utilise its available resources.

“Osun State has enormous potential, enormous resources, natural human resources, but the problem is that it doesn’t have a governor to access these resources,” he said.

According to him, Osun requires a leader with the appropriate experience and background to unlock its potential and accelerate development.

“What it needs at this moment is to elect a governor, Governor AMBO, who has the requisite pedigree and requisite background to harness these resources,” he said.

AMBO is the campaign identity of the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

‘Osun Is Not in Mainstream Politics’

Jibrin also expressed concern over what he described as Osun State’s lack of visibility in Nigeria’s mainstream political landscape.

He argued that the state had become isolated and suggested that the election of Oyebamiji would help strengthen its position within national politics.

“As we speak, we have 31 states, but Osun is isolated,” Jibrin said.

The Deputy Senate President maintained that Osun needed stronger political representation and leadership to take advantage of opportunities available at the national level.

He urged voters to assess the experience, capacity and track records of the candidates before casting their ballots on Saturday.

The mega rally formed part of the APC’s final mobilisation efforts ahead of the governorship election.

The party has intensified its campaign across the state as Oyebamiji seeks to defeat the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and other candidates contesting the poll.

With the election approaching, APC leaders have continued to appeal to voters to back Oyebamiji, portraying him as an experienced candidate capable of providing effective leadership and unlocking Osun State’s economic potential.
