Bank of America VP Erin Piacenti Dies After Random Times Square Stabbing

A 32-year-old Bank of America vice president, Erin Piacenti, has died after being stabbed during an attack at Times Square in New York City.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Piacenti, who worked in Bank of America’s business selection and conflicts unit, was among two people attacked during the incident on Monday.

The financial institution confirmed her death and expressed deep sadness over the loss of the employee, describing her as a valued member of its team whose death would be deeply felt by her colleagues and loved ones.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said during a briefing that a woman armed with several knives attacked two people at Times Square. Police officers responded to the scene, using a Taser before opening fire.

The New York Police Department subsequently confirmed that Piacenti sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead following the attack, while another individual was also injured.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said preliminary findings suggested that the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked.

Authorities identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who was shot and killed by responding police officers at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, with the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division examining the use of force by officers during the response.

Piacenti’s death occurred near Bank of America’s Manhattan operations, with the company’s major Manhattan office located at One Bryant Park, close to Times Square.

The incident has raised concerns over public safety in one of New York City’s busiest and most recognisable areas as investigators continue to establish what led to the deadly confrontation.
