Patience Ozokwor Speaks Out on Olu Jacobs Condition, Says I Feel So Bad

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has expressed deep concern over the situation surrounding her colleague and legendary actor Olu Jacobs, while reflecting on the emotional impact of losing prominent figures in the Nigerian film industry.

Reports indicate that Olu Jacobs’ wife and fellow actress, Joke Silva, disclosed in 2021 that the veteran actor had been managing dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), a progressive neurological condition.

Speaking during an interview with Femi Babs TV on YouTube, Ozokwor admitted that she finds it difficult to think about Jacobs’ situation, saying it has affected her emotionally.

The respected actress also revealed that she sometimes imagines how devastating it would be if another veteran actor, Pete Edochie, were to pass away before her.

Ozokwor recalled the deaths of veteran actors Sam Loco and Mr Ibu, explaining that she struggled deeply with their passing because of the close relationships she shared with them and her appreciation for their presence.

According to the actress, Sam Loco’s death was particularly difficult for her because of their shared experiences in comedy and the memorable moments they had working together. She said she was unable to come to terms with his death at the time and cried uncontrollably.

She also recalled the passing of Mr Ibu, saying she experienced similar emotions but was able to control herself better because she had become older and more emotionally conscious.

Ozokwor explained that she values the company and presence of people around her, making the loss of colleagues and friends especially painful.

“I keep imagining what it would feel like if Pete Edochie passed away before me. I feel so bad about Olu Jacobs’ situation and don’t want to think about it,” she said.

The actress added that Sam Loco’s death took a significant emotional toll on her because of their close working relationship and his ability to bring humour to their shared projects.

“When Sam Loco died, I cried like a baby because he was good with comedy and we were always doing comedy together. I couldn’t fathom his death. It took a lot from me,” she added.

Reflecting on Mr Ibu’s death, Ozokwor said she experienced similar pain but deliberately tried to remain composed, noting that she was younger when Sam Loco died and had since learned to manage her emotions better.
