Nollywood actress Stella Damasus has revealed the three qualities she considers non-negotiable in any man who intends to become her daughter’s partner.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actress made the disclosure during a conversation with her second daughter, Angelica Aboderin, in a Pulse TV interview.

During the discussion, Angelica asked her mother to identify three qualities she would not compromise on when it comes to choosing a partner for her.

Responding to the question, Stella listed respect, financial stability and discipline as her major requirements.

The actress explained that her daughter’s potential partner must have genuine respect for her and be deeply committed to the relationship. She also stressed that the man should have sufficient financial capacity to take care of himself and provide for her daughter.

Stella further identified discipline as an important quality, noting that she would want a man who possesses self-control and conducts himself responsibly.

She emphasised that financial stability should not be viewed merely in terms of wealth, but rather as the ability to responsibly cater for oneself and a partner.

Stella is a mother of two daughters, Isabel and Angelica, whom she had with her late husband, Jaiye Aboderin. The actress married Aboderin in 1999 when she was 21 years old, and their marriage ended with his death in December 2004.

Her comments have sparked conversations about the expectations parents may have for individuals who seek to marry their children, with respect, financial responsibility and discipline emerging as the key qualities she considers essential.
