This Is Final — Kwam 1 Finally Ends MC Oluomo And Tafa Sego’s Long Rift
Enyimba chairman Kanu Nwankwo has appealed to the club’s supporters to remain steadfast in their backing as the People’s Elephant look to recover from a difficult beginning to the Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Enyimba have suffered defeats in each of their opening three league matches, with their latest setback coming in a 1-0 loss to NPFL newcomers Inter Lagos at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday. The nine-time champions, who only secured their top-flight status on the final day of the previous campaign, currently occupy the bottom position on the league table.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Enyimba will have an opportunity to secure their first points of the campaign when they host Sporting Lagos on Wednesday, with Kanu urging supporters to continue encouraging the players despite the disappointing results.
In a statement shared on the club’s official X account, Kanu acknowledged the frustration surrounding the team’s poor start but expressed confidence that the players can turn their fortunes around.
He praised the supporters for turning out in difficult conditions during the defeat to Inter Lagos, noting that their continued backing has not gone unnoticed by the club.
Kanu appealed to the fans to remain united with the team as Enyimba attempt to overcome their current struggles, stressing that a victory against Sporting Lagos could provide the momentum needed to begin a resurgence.
He also reminded supporters of the club’s tradition of success and called on them to come out in large numbers to cheer the team towards victory.
Meanwhile, Rangers International have confirmed that defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has undergone surgery after suffering an aggravation of an injury during a pre-season match in August.
The club announced that the defender had successfully completed the scheduled procedure and wished him a smooth and speedy recovery as he begins another rehabilitation programme.
Onyebuchi initially sustained the injury during Rangers’ NPFL encounter against Bendel Insurance, an injury that ruled him out of the 2024 African Nations Championship. The centre-back subsequently underwent treatment and rehabilitation before returning to competitive action, only to aggravate the problem during pre-season.
Rangers will now hope the defender makes a full recovery and returns to the pitch after completing his rehabilitation.
Elsewhere, Doma United head coach Deji Ayeni has backed his side to respond positively when they face Plateau United on Wednesday. The Savannah Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season at the weekend, losing 2-0 to Kano Pillars.
Ayeni described the defeat as a wake-up call for his players and urged them to focus on producing a strong response in their next fixture. He stressed that football is unpredictable and that the reaction to a defeat is often more important than the setback itself.
The coach revealed that his technical team had focused on mental, psychological, emotional and physical preparation ahead of the Plateau United encounter. He said Doma United’s objective is to secure all three points while maintaining a balance between attacking intent and defensive discipline
