The Nigerian naira opened trading on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at approximately ₦1,327.68 to the United States dollar, based on the latest available USD/NGN reference rate for the day.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the figure represents the latest indication from the official foreign exchange market, while updated Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) trading data was still being awaited in the early hours of Thursday.

On Wednesday, September 30, CBN data showed the naira closing at ₦1,329.16/$1, compared with ₦1,330.47/$1 recorded on Tuesday. The movement represented an improvement of about ₦1.31 per dollar.

In the parallel market, available quotations on Wednesday put the dollar at approximately ₦1,375 for buying and ₦1,385 for selling. However, actual rates may vary depending on the location, dealer, transaction volume and prevailing market conditions.

Based on the ₦1,327.68 official reference rate and the ₦1,385 parallel-market selling rate, the difference between the two markets stood at approximately ₦57.32 per dollar.

At the official reference rate, $100 would be equivalent to about ₦132,768, while the same amount would cost approximately ₦138,500 at the parallel-market selling rate. Similarly, $1,000 would be valued at roughly ₦1.328 million at the official rate and ₦1.385 million at the parallel-market selling rate.

For Thursday, the available rates are approximately ₦1,327.68/$1 for the official reference rate, ₦1,329.16/$1 for the previous CBN closing rate, ₦1,375/$1 for the parallel-market buying rate and ₦1,385/$1 for the parallel-market selling rate.

The exchange-rate movement comes amid relatively stable conditions in the foreign exchange market. Recent market reports have placed the naira around the ₦1,328 per dollar level in official-market trading, while parallel-market rates have remained around the ₦1,380/$1 region.

However, rates offered by commercial banks, Bureau de Change operators and other foreign-exchange dealers may differ from published figures because of factors including liquidity, location, transaction size and individual dealer margins.
