The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect, identified as Mustapha Sani, and recovered an Infinix Android phone allegedly stolen in Adamawa State.

The suspect was arrested on October 19 by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) in Awka following intelligence-led operations aimed at tracking down individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.

According to Bush Radio Academy, preliminary police investigations indicate that Sani allegedly dispossessed unsuspecting victims of their mobile phones in Adamawa State before travelling to Anambra, where the stolen devices were reportedly intended for sale or personal use.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest, stating that the recovered Infinix phone was undergoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.

Ikenga explained that further investigations had commenced to determine the suspect’s level of involvement and establish the relevant facts of the case.

He added that the police were also working towards returning the recovered device to its rightful owner.

The command’s ongoing investigation is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and determine the appropriate legal action based on the findings.
