The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man identified as Agbogun Bernard after he was allegedly found driving a vehicle bearing a suspected fake Presidency number plate.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the arrest took place on October 26 when police officers intercepted a black Toyota Corolla driven by Bernard. The vehicle, which displayed the registration number M01-997 FG, was subsequently taken to the FCT Police Command Headquarters for further investigation.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that Bernard was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source of the registration number, raising suspicions about the authenticity of the vehicle’s registration particulars.

The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the allocation, ownership and use of the number plate, as well as verify the legitimacy of the registration details.

The command has yet to disclose further details about the suspect or indicate whether additional arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command urged residents to remain law-abiding and promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.

Residents were also advised to contact the command through its emergency telephone numbers, 08032003913 and 08061581938, to provide information that could assist officers in maintaining public safety and security.
