The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old woman, identified as Fatima Dalha, for allegedly stabbing her 30-year-old husband during a domestic dispute in Dass Local Government Area of the state.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the incident occurred at about 6 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the Lirr Bajar community, following an argument between the couple over money, wrappers and a mobile phone the woman reportedly claimed belonged to her.

The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Fatima allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach.

The injured man reportedly collapsed and began bleeding, prompting alarm among residents. An angry crowd subsequently gathered and allegedly attempted to lynch the suspect before police officers from the Dass Division arrived at the scene.

According to the police, officers rescued Fatima from the mob and arranged for her husband to be taken to a hospital for medical attention. He was reported to be receiving treatment following the incident.

The command confirmed that the suspect had been detained and the knife allegedly used in the attack recovered. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over domestic violence, particularly among young couples, and urged partners to resolve disagreements through peaceful means rather than resorting to physical confrontation.

He encouraged couples experiencing disputes to seek assistance from family members, community elders or appropriate legal channels, stressing that violent reactions could have devastating consequences for everyone involved.

The police commissioner also warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, reiterating the command’s commitment to ensuring that the matter is investigated professionally and that justice is pursued through lawful procedures.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to police investigation, and the allegation against the suspect has yet to be determined by a court.
