The United States Embassy in Moscow has issued an urgent security warning over a credible threat of a possible mass-casualty incident at the famous Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in the Russian capital.

In an alert released on Saturday, October 31, the embassy disclosed that it had received information about a potential incident that could result in multiple casualties at the popular tourist and recreational destination.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the US government is working with relevant Russian authorities to respond to the reported threat and assess the security situation.

The embassy advised American citizens to avoid the museum for the day, stay alert and keep away from crowded locations as a precautionary measure.

It also urged US nationals in Moscow to ensure their mobile phones remained charged, carry valid identification, review their personal security arrangements and monitor local media for further developments.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) subsequently confirmed that it had received information from American officials concerning preparations for a possible terrorist attack in Moscow.

The security agency disclosed that it was taking appropriate measures in response to the information provided by its American counterparts.

Meanwhile, Russian media reports indicated that the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve had been temporarily closed, while law enforcement authorities restricted access to the surrounding park as security operations continued.

The Tsaritsyno complex, commissioned in 1775 as a summer residence for Empress Catherine the Great, is one of Moscow’s notable historical attractions. The extensive site features historic palaces, landscaped gardens, woodland areas and ponds, making it a popular destination for tourists and residents.

The security warning has raised concerns over public safety in the Russian capital, although the information provided so far does not confirm that an attack has occurred or identify any suspected perpetrators.

Authorities are expected to continue assessing the reported threat and implementing necessary security measures.
