The former governor of Anambra received significant support from Nigerians, particularly on social media, during the recent election campaign. In a series of tweets, he echoed Bill Gates’ opinion on the migration wave affecting Nigeria, stating that the departure of Nigerian professionals for greener pastures would ultimately benefit the country.
Peter Obi emphasized that he has always advocated for the idea that the brain drain experienced today will transform into brain gain in the future. While the current exodus of Nigerians may appear to be a loss, he believes that when the nation begins to prioritize good governance and implement the right policies, the knowledge and resources acquired by those who left will be instrumental in building a new Nigeria.
