Insiders claimed that Aiyedatiwa, during Governor Akeredolu’s medical treatment in Germany, was allegedly implicated in a plot to pressure the governor into resigning on health grounds.

Sources within the Executive Council revealed that Aiyedatiwa and his supporters have been restless since images and videos surfaced online showing the governor on the path to recovery.

While the governor was away, Aiyedatiwa and Chief of Staff Gbenga Ale purportedly assured certain council members that Akeredolu would not return.

Reportedly, some Executive Council members aligned with Aiyedatiwa believed that the governor would either not return alive or would resign, thereby allowing the deputy governor to ascend to the position of governor. These members were apparently promised various positions and lucrative ministries.

In line with the alleged plan, Chief of Staff Ale was offered the position of Secretary to the State Government, while Commissioner Rasaq Obe was reportedly promised the role of deputy governor to Aiyedatiwa. Obe hails from Ifedore in the Ondo Central Senatorial District.

Further reports suggested that Aiyedatiwa has met with prominent figures within the APC, including former National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, former Southwest Chairman Chief Pius Akinyelure, and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.

These meetings were held separately in Abuja, purportedly in an effort to garner their support and sway the governor’s stance.

Sources revealed that Aiyedatiwa’s intention is to secure favor and endorsement from these APC leaders, aiming to persuade the governor to overlook his previous actions.

An additional source from Akure disclosed, “Aiyedatiwa told us that the governor could no longer move his hands. He mentioned some files he took to Ibadan that were signed and returned to him.

According to him, the governor did not sign those files himself. He concluded that the governor would not be coming back.”

The situation appears to have induced anxiety within Aiyedatiwa’s circle, as the acting governor allegedly seeks reconciliation with Akeredolu while grappling with the repercussions of misinformation he received concerning the governor’s health.
